Anyone doing current research using contingency theory in crisis communications? If so, let's chat. Email me at ksgilmor@syr.edu.

Hi! I'm a PhD student at Universite du Québec à Montréal, with a professional and academic background in PR. I'm particularly interested in Critical Studies of PR as practices, discourses and social phenomenon.

My research project is about the ethics of social media PR. So far, I found that theoretical work on this subject is quite scarce. Any knowledge of any body of work I should know about?

Looking forward to discuss with you all.

Hi great to meet all of you, I am from Egypt, a media professional who has had a turn from journalism to public relations, working mainly in the development field.  I look forward to be inspired by new ideas and interesting research. I have a Masters in Television Journalism,I also contributed to a cambridge study about religious broadcasting in the Middle East.

Thanks Meenakshi and Johanna for you blogs, really very interesting. it is  great to have such a resource. My own interests lean more towards media and its impact on people and not specifically public relation being more of a practitioner rather than a researcher in this specific field, but I am an avid reader and I firmly believe that practice has to rest on solid grounds of good understanding of the theoretical background. here is a link to a blog I wrote a while ago entitled " Advertising poverty" if any one is interested to know more about my own background and context

http://onpoverty.blogspot.com/2010/10/advertising-poverty-she-looke...

will come back to you all with lots of questions and reflections

Welcome to all the new members who have recently joined our PR network. Please take a moment to introduce yourselves to the group: tell us about your professional and/or research interests; what's your area of expertise; do share links and news stories; and remember to pose questions and raise opportunities for discussion in the "Discussion Forum". Cheers!

Thanks Johanna, and welcome! Great blog too - we have overlapping research interests, mine discussed in the "Discussion Forum" above, particularly relating to notions of occupational/organizational culture and professional identity work. Looking forward to continued exchange. You should connect with Bernie Gauthier, also in our network and a long time PR pro also completing his doctorate. Re: NCA unfortunately other work prevents me from attending this year. Have a great conference.

Hi - I'm Johanna Fawkes, practised public sector PR for 15 years then 15 years teaching at UK universities. Based in Leeds, UK. About to submit my PhD on Jung, ethics and PR - a new approach to professional ethics, with PR as the case study. See www.kirkstalljo.wordpress.com for blog and papers. Latest publication in the Review of Communication July 2010 but not sure about copyright restrictions.
Anyway pleased to see a new venue for the exchange of ideas.
I'm going to the NCA next week - anyone else?
